The Addams Floor...

Well the Alison Jr. comes with its own wood floors... a pine looking sticker with grooves in it. Soooooo not really what I was looking for in my mansion. I thought I would have to cover it all up with wood floors to get the desired look BUT I decided first to not be wasteful and attempt to change what I had. So I took my box cutter, files, sand paper, and stain and came up with this. The first pic is 'before' and the last two pics are after.

What do you think - good enough for the Addams Family?

  3. Definitely good enough !! I love the distressed boards. I am planning to make a haunted house from my orchid kit one day when I get time ( possible 2030 LOL) and had never thought of making my own floor. Now you have made me want to try.

  8. Thanks! Yep - its darker... But I think I might sand it a bit and do one more layer of stain to make it darker still... we'll see! I still have the other two floors to do!

Hey look what I found, http://www.miniatureplace.com/Dollhouse-Miniature-Cane-Overhead-Arm-Chair/M/B001D058Y4.htm

Oh and I've been watching a few Adams family episodes at night on my computer, before I go to bed... and I've found out Gomez's family lineage goes back to Head Hunters in Papua New Guinea, and Morticia to Salem Massachusetts. Also, Gomez's lineage was traceable to having burned down the library of Alexandria in ancient Egypt. Thought those were interesting tid bits.

  11. Thanks for the link Tara! That chair is pretty close and its good to know there's one out there!

I've been watching them too! Thanks for the facts... unfortunantly there are a lot of discrepancies (sp?) between the tv show and the movies... I kind of want to get some Charles Addams books also to see how he originally set the characters up! -Ara
