Ok- its not much, and there is still trim to do..... and a column to put in the middle there.... and well lots more... but here's a quick peek at my first wall I've been working on!!! Excitement!
So some of you might be thinking .... yellow? Well, its a darkish yellow. And the whole house is gonna be so so dark that I need something light in there. Also.... I have been enjoying the Addams Family TV show sooooo much and they are just so cheery that I wanted to reflect that just a bit. There really is a remarkable difference between the mood of the tv show and the mood of the movies.
Anyway, if you are wanting to check out any of the old Addams Family tv shows, make sure and visit Hulu.com. they have almost every tv show ever made I think....

Ohhhhh, I LOVE it. The wallpaper is awesome! I'll have to check out Hulu. I've seen the TV ads but always forget to check it out! I agree, I think the TV series was "lighter" just as Batman was MUCH different than the movies but the comic books for Batman were a bit darker than TV as I understand it.

Just one sneak peak? You're such a tease! It's looking great! I believe you upgraded from the kit and got the window and door from Hobby Lobby, right? 'cause I have the same exact window and door in my sack of things that need to be finished for the Quidditch shop...great minds must think alike!
ReplyDeleteAra, I just fixed lights for my tent and it doesn't matter that the walls are dark etc. Once the lights are on, everything is bright and cheery! :). Are there more things to be done to the doors?Did you construct the doors ? Will they open?
ReplyDeleteThis looks so brilliant Ara, your house is going to be amazing !! I grew up loving the tv show so much and youre right there is such a difference between the films and the show. I watched the first film but havent even seen the second , just wasnt the same for me
ReplyDeletejulie xx
A great start Ara.. Can't wait to see more.. x
ReplyDeleteIts a lovely dirty warm colour, and you right Ara you do have to lift these spooky houses a little. Our Beacon Hill haunted house was so dark, so some of the furniture I did in louder colours to brighten it up abit or it looks just too sombre. great work so far Kate xx
ReplyDeleteOh Ara!! I love the wall! I always do things backwards and build the house first....I bet it's much easier to do it this way, huh! It looks so good~Can't wait to see the columns!!!
ReplyDeleteLove HULU! I'm bad for watchig the A-Team over there, Hahaha! I'll have to check out the Addams!!
:)
Thanks everyone for the comments!! I will do a new post tonight showing a little more for those interested in the doors and windows and what exactly I did :) It is SOOOOO much fun dirtying up and aging things!! I feel like i don't have to be as careful. Sometimes a random splat here and there looks nice - haha!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your post about aging and dirtying up as I'm going to need to do that to the roof of my shabby chic cottage :) Hugs Marsha
ReplyDeleteI like the yellow. It's ooky. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love the aging wallpaper. I had used wood-stain on my first dollhouse to age the wallpaper ...
ReplyDeleteOnce you finish the house, do give me a nudge if you are looking for someone to make the characters ;)
Thank you Sumaiya for the offer!!! I would love to have a few of your lovely characters!!! However I must admit that I am somewhat tempted to try to sculpt them myself... we'll see if that happens haha!!! I've never sculpted a doll before!
ReplyDeleteThis looks fabulous! Your panelling looks so great - how did you do it? I love the look of the dark wood with that wallpaper.
